This is what your friends are saying about the Driver's Edge events.
I wanted reiterate again my profound thanks for a great weekend. As a new driver in your program, I entered the weekend with some concerns in the back of my mind.
- Will I actually get instruction or will this be just another track day where I'd just run my car and not really learn anything new.
- Lot of people signed up for the weekend, will I actually get time on track, will it be safe, will the organization/execution of the event be well put together or be a cluster
Now that the weekend is behind me, I can unequivocally say that you run one of the finest driver education programs I've attended. The event was super organized, everyone was focused on safety and the classroom and on-track instructors were top notch. Best value for the $, bar none.
I came away from the weekend with more awareness of both my strengths and areas for improvement ... all while having a blast!
My instructor was fantastic. I don't know what kind of voodoo you use but somehow you managed to connect me with an instructor who not only could communicate in "my lingo" so I understood what I needed to do, his personality was perfect for me to learn the rather complex track pretty quickly (20 turns.. good grief). I can't say enough.
All this with just a couple of questions on friday night. like I said, voodoo magic.
Wrapping up, I learned a lot about myself and my Audi R8 this past weekend. It's made me a better and safer driver (and hopefully, a tad faster). Thank you and your team. You run a class act and hope to see you again in one of your next events.
I'll try to keep this short and sweet but the simple fact is that "The Drivers Edge" is hands down the most fun I've ever had on track. It was also by far the most informative. You know that I've spent many hours on track at MSRH doing LeMons races and I just want to say that I learned more before lunch on Saturday at TDE then I ever didracing LeMons. Nothing against LeMons, there's just a massive difference between "track time" and "quality track time". Also, in my opinion you could not have paired me with a better instructor. Kevin'sattitude and method of instruction had me giggling like a school girl on those corner exits. Please don't tell him this as I'm sure his ego would swell beyond acceptable proportions.Thank you for a fantastic weekend and I hope you get used to seeing that blue Golf R cause I think I'm going to start being a regular.
It was another extremely well run outing and I had a great time. Billy did a great job instructing and was able to give some good pointers on where I can continue to improve. I was also very pleasantly surprised to see the times on my data acquisition package- my second session on Sunday showed 8 laps within .5 seconds of each other. It's quite a ways off of a good lap time for a Spec Miata, but you guys have me very comfortable on how to goabout finding additional speed, SAFELY. :)
Thanks again for putting on a great event- I brought another green student last time and continue to promote you guys whenever motorsports comes up in conversation.
I really enjoyed this past weekend at MSR Houston. Have a new appreciation for what you do. Really great organization and a great bunch of people. Rich was a great instructor and I felt I got more than I bargained for. Probably learned more in one weekend than I would have in a couple of years driving by myself.
I must say that I have been to many otherdriving events and was very surprised in how well thedrivers edge event was run. I learned plenty more about my car and will definitely return. I knew Jacob was newinstructor of yours and you guys trained him well, I was very appreciative and could not ask for anything more. He was as knowledgeable if not more than I about my cars characteristics and setup. He was very good with communication and getting me to apply these things.Anyways, Just get back with me when you get a chance regarding my report card as I'm curious to see it.
Thank you for all that you do! The weekend was so great! We had so much fun and I got to spend some time with my son-in-law, which made it really special. You don't know how good that was.
We will see you again, count on it.
God bless you,
I wanted to say thanks again for the driving help and advice + class + general
enormously fun time. I did make it to the one day Audi R8 school in Sonoma, and
it was a lot of fun from a car standpoint, but not NEAR the level of instruction
I got from you and Rich last weekend.
The R8 was soft compared to the lotus, though extremely powerful, I think I like
my ride better! The steering feel was much less than the lotus and the turn to
lock ratio I felt was a little high - I think even in sport mode they'd need to
tighten up that steering, and further, need a fix for that automated manual
tranny - It's just behind the times, a true manual would be the only way to get
an R8 until the dual clutch one comes out (I think).
I'll be back at the drivers edge sometime in early 2013 when the schedule is
announced, and am looking forward to my second event already!!
I hope you have a great weekend,
First I would like to thank you for an experience that will last a life time. I still having problems wiping the grin off my face. The program and the instructors were fantastic.
I would like to get a copy of my report card if I could. See what we need to work on next time.
First, I want to thank you and your team for another great Drivers Edge experience, this past weekend was great. My instructor Chris was a great help, really giving me the input I needed to improve and learn more about skills and getting the most out of my car. Chris really helped me learn the track quickly, since I was going the opposite direction from our April run.
I really look forward to being on track at TWS in Oct, and enjoying another great Drivers Edge weekend, I know I will come away a better driver for the experience.
Again, thank you for providing such a quality product, the guys that we'd encouraged to come take part all had great times, they all want to do Drivers Edge again.
Phil J -#28, blue group
The DE program was way more than I expected.
Learned more than I could have emagined with pointersfrom all your staff and instructors and has put alot of information into perspective and is helping put other information order.
Is a great group and I'll be back
I just wanted to drop an email to let you know what a great job my instructors andthe TDE crew did at the vent yesterday- it was another excellent experience with The Driver's Edge. Monica did a wonderful job instructing me in the Miata, including some sessions on Sunday where we worked without the intercom due to the loud cabin (her hand signals were quite effective). Chuck was also very helpful in my check ride Saturday. I can tell my skills are definitely progressing- my smoothness and confidence are increasing and, of course lap times are coming down. More importantly, my safety and track awareness skills improved considerably (after the learning experience with the red flag, and in avoiding a spinning Elise in the third session yesterday).
One request- as you filter in the comment cards from the instructors, I would love to see the feedback on me if you don't mind sharing. I also want to change my goals a bit- it was listed as a solo signoff (likely because of the car), but I also want to build towards running SCCA/NASA in the next year or two, and gaining as much wisdom on smoothness (and shaving time) as I can. I am curious on the path towards instructing- I know I'm certainly not there yet but I'd like to share my knowledge someday and introduce others to the joys of track driving. I think I might have to work on the stones to get in the passenger seat with some of the students though!
I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate the experience you guys provide. I mentioned to Monica that I have the ability to head to MSR and run almost anytime I want, but choose to run with you guys for the education. Many thanks to you and the instructors for everything you do!
I had an incredible time as always with The Drivers Edge this weekend, you guys do such a great job making everything run smoothly.
I wanted to thank you for the wonderful event. It was obvious to all who attended that you guys put great time and effort into making this event a big success as I know everyone learned something new. I appreciate all of the work you do and always look forward to the upcoming events.
Once again, thank you for all of the time and effort that you and your team put into organizing the event. It was a blast.
Thank you so much for the most fun I've had with my clothes on in years...:P
The customer service, organization and instructional classes flowed great and really did surpass my already high expectations. I'm fairly sure the next Houston event will have Nils and I there again.
Nelson (instructor) was also very informative and super helpful. He's a bit quiet but was very willing to answer any questions and also let meride with him a few times. His subie felt like it was on rails with those tires and rock hard suspension.
Thanks again for everything,
I wanted to take a few moments and express to you my feelings on the past event at MSR. I am a very quiet person that hardly ever speaks unless to say hello or goodbye so this email is not my ordinary. There was not one thing about your event that was not superb. From the classroom instruction to the organization with the colored flags! David the instructor that rode with me was awesome. He understood that family had taken me away from driving sports and worked me back in slowly. I know the parade lap does nor seem like much to some, but my 4 small children got the chance to go on the "race track", it really meant something to them. It was something you guys did not have to do! You have a wonderful program that I will continue to attend as well as tell others about. Thank you for a great event.
I just wanted to say thank you so much! I had a blast at the event and it couldn't have been better for me. Thank you so much for allowing me to participate, even though I came late. You could have easily said no and turned me away. But you allowed me to for which I am SO THANKFUL! It was an amazing experience and I will DEFINITELY be back!!
You run a great program and my instructor Todd was fabulous! He was so patient with me and so friendly--I knew I was in good hands. I learned SO MUCH from him! He also was personable and supportive and even loaned me his torque wrench. I imagine the other instructors are just as good, because all of the green drivers did great and I felt safe on the track. (I actually felt safer than I did when I got back on the highways to drive home!!) Can you believe it? I DID drive safer and slower on the way home than usual, you were right!
I will definitely be back for futureevents!!! Thanks again!!!!!
I had a lot of fun over a superbly managed 2 days. You guys do a wonderful job and the empathy your customers share with you is truly like a family. Even though I last ran with you in 2003, I felt like I was returning home.
The red group was as good a bunch of fast drivers as one finds in any of NASA's GTS or ST groups and are a credit to the standards you uphold.
incredible event this weekend - thanks so much for doing such a great job! You and your team are by far the tops in your industry. You rock!
First off, let me say what an INCREDIBLE experience Driver's Edge was for me. In fact, after two days of being nervous, excited, exhilarated, and adrenalized, I found it hard to return to normal life/work. Scott (black Mini Cooper) was a fantastic instructor and was always very honest with me about what I needed to work on while still being VERY encouraging...
That being said, I want MORE! I am planning on attending the December event and am wondering about the tech inspection. Do you keep it on file and will know that I had one within 6 months? Would I need to provide a copy?
Thanks for all you guys do,
Last weekend was much better than I was expecting (and I had high expectations). The one-on-one instructor setup was helpful, the classroom presentations were informative yet entertaining, and the classes and runs were spaced out perfectly. I'll certainty be coming back for more, with some more friends in tow this time.
Thank you once again for a fabulous event. As Novices, both my son & felt
very comfortable and safe with the complete professionalism in every aspect
of our experience. A job well done.
Thank you again
I just wanted to let you guys know how much I appreciate what y'all dofor us. I had the best event yet in July, and I hadn't even planned on going because it's usually too hot for me and my car.
When I started the weekend I had a goal of moving up to red. Then, when I got to the grid for the first session, and I saw Tom Davis was going to be my instructor, I promptly changed my mind. I'm sure you guys already know but Tom is an outstanding instructor and human being. I owe a large part of my development as a driver to him (and of course TDE!). I told him on the cool down lap of the first session that I had already asked for a red check ride before I knew he was going to be my instructor for this event. I told him that I didn't want to move to red this event so I could spend more time learning all I could from him. He told me that I was ready and that I really should do thecheck ride. We spent Saturday having a blast practicing the line through little bend the uses a lot of trail braking. I did my check ride on the last session of Saturday and passed (of course you know that). I really enjoyed my time in red and felt comfortable there. During the lunch break Tom stopped by to chat and we discussed how my development has sped up in the last year or so. I told him I owe that entirely to him and the TDE team.
I also want to thank you for helping me spend more time with my Dad. He lives in Houston and I'm in Dallas. Before we started doing HPDEs, we didn't get to see each other much except for holidays. Now we get to meet up much more frequently, and we get to have fun together doing something we both love. I have also made some great friendships. As you mentioned in your drivers meeting on Sunday, we all need to keep our priorities straight because it can all change at the blink of an eye.
That's it. I just wanted to let you guys/gal (ALL OF YOU) know that I really appreciate what y'all do for us, me especially. Oh, and my vote for instructor for the year is for Tom! ha ha!!
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into making the Toyota Quality Champions Day at the Track a huge success! Our guests will remember this event for a long time to come.
As you are well aware, this was my first time coordinating a race track event. Your patience, professionalism, and humor made my “learning” not only educational, but a lot of fun. And at the event, The Driver's Edge Team was professional, well organized, and worked with smiles and good humor - all while keeping our guests safe. We couldn't be happier with our experience, and we thank you for being a valued Gulf States Toyota partner.
Should you have any potential clients looking for a reference, please feel free to provide them with my name and contact information.

Just wanted to thank you again for putting on such a great weekend event at the track. I really had a great time. It was a first time for me on the track in the rain, so it was a great learning opportunity, especially in the mustang with tons of hp and the quirkiness of the automatic transmission. Thanks also, for getting me bumped up to blue on Sunday once things got dried out, I think I picked up the track pretty quickly and had a great time with BJ. Probably a good thing I didn't run the last session because by the time I got the car back to the airport, the brakes were mostly shot.
I also wanted to say thank you for taking the time Sunday morningfor a small church service. As a Christian, I really appreciated that few moments to give credit to God and acknowledge him in our lives. I am a regular church attender, teach Sunday school to 1stgraders with my wife, and do a men's breakfast group on Friday's before work, so I missed all of that during my trip to Texas and really appreciated your efforts to make that time happen.
Seems Vasilis likes MSR Houston the best, so maybe I'll have to get down for one of those weekends in the not too distant future.
Just wanted to let you know it was a fun, albeit intense weekend.
I was in the green group. My first time stepping foot on a track, ever!
It was much more than I ever expected. I never in my life drove a car, or sat in someone else's car taking corner so fast.
It was for the most part scary and an eye opening experience.
I was too tensed up, and didn't really start to relax and have fun until the last run on Sunday.
Then I started getting more comfortable, and building some confidence, and thisspeed...right up until the moment I went off the track in turn 2.
But I used what I learned in class (looking for an exit strategy) so I went straight off, and didn't even try to turn the corner until I was clearly off the track.
I did learn a lot of good points in the past 2 days.
Most importantly I feel I learned that I am not as good a driver as I thought I was, and that I have a lot of room for improvement.
Your class was definitely an eye opening experience that I would never have learned on the road by myself.
Thanks for the great instruction and I hope to see you again soon sometime!
Just wanted to say "thanks" for a great weekend at TWS.
Stewart (my buddy in the WRX) and I had a blast.
We really like the fact that you guys put such an emphasis on safety and etiquette in your training.
Many of the drivers have commented of how you can manage such a large and complex event down to the level of individual people. It's really quite an impressive demonstration in management. I want to thank you personally for how that has added to my experience at The Driver's Edge. There have been a number of times when I needed something extra and without me asking you proactively provided it. Having Scooter for an instructor was extremely helpful and really made the event for me. Thanks for thinking about me and thanks for all that you do Rick.

I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for a fantastic event this weekend. You guys run the best events and have the best instructors. I worked with a couple of instructors this weekend and seriously improved in a couple of areas. It was just awesome...best track weekend for me yet.
I wanted to thank you for a fantastic year of events. It is unbelievable how much I have learned running with you guys this year. I will see you next year, almost certainly for the January event. (Please also give Mandy's and my best to Karen.)
Andy was a great instructor and he got me back up to speed quickly and confidently (I hadn't been on a track in 13 years - I was 15 years old the last time I drove on track). He was very perceptive of what I was (and wasn't) doing, had me focus on the more obvious problems to straighten them out on Saturday, and then let me work out consistency and speed issues through Sunday. From what I heard from the other students the rest of the instructors are as good as he is.
What impressed me most, though, was that there were no delays and no confusion the entire weekend. I HATE it when schedules get messed up and, as best I can tell, we had virtually no delays all weekend. Great prep and execution by the Driver's Edge to keep things rolling smoothly.
I'll definitely be back.
thanks for another great weekend. I continue to be so impressed by your organization. My instructor, Jeremy was great -- calm, very competent, pushed me, but not beyond capability. When you've got a minute, could you send my evaluation?
I just wanted to send you a quick note about your school.
You asked for suggestions/comments so here goes.
I have never attended a drivers course like yours before now & these are my perceptions.
I thought the entire event was extremely well planned and executed in very professional manner.
You and your associates kept a great balance between fun and the serious matter of safe competition driving. The tempo was excellent and not too rushed.
Classes were very informative and fun.
Food was great.
Now to my instructor.
Alex was extremely polite and understanding.
He communicated with voice and hand signals what his intentions were.
His suggestions & teaching were easy to understand, brief, & to the point.
Alex's driving skills were outstanding and I must say, I had the ride of my life with him at the wheel.
I don't think I have ever had thatmuch fun just sitting in a car seat.
He was gracious enough to take meout in his personal track car.
It was absolutely unbelievable how much performance he could coax out of a Mazda Miata.
I could not keep from laughing when he was catching up with the Porsche's!
That had to be a gut check for the poor fellow in the Porsche...being reeled in by a Miata!
He is a fine representative of your company.
Ratings: based on 1 to 5 with 5 being the best.
Drivers Edge- Your company is definitely a 5. Everyone did a great job.
Instructor- Just have to give him a 5+ for a stellar performance & excellent instruction.
Track- Excellent facility & layout for a 5.
Student (me)- slow reflexes, poor depth perception, a little forgetful, & a strong will to live combined with low testosterone, 1 to 2.
I look forward to participating in another event in the near future.
It's been a long time since we have run into each other at the track. I just wanted
to drop you a note letting you know that a close friend of mine is
the guy who flew in from DC for the event, Jim. He reported back to
me that (other than being shackled by a plain stock A4 1.8T) he had
a great time and said he loved you guys and that made a big
difference, as I suspected he would say. :)
validating my years of praise to Jim about your organization! I
hope to get back to an event before too long. I miss it!
Thank you very much for the awesome event you guys put on, and thank
you so much for going above and beyond to help me find a set of
tires and allowing me to complete my weekend. It meant so much to
me, and I can't thank you enough for it. I'll definitely recommend
the driver's edge to people at every opportunity.
You couldn't be
more correct this weekend, 'playing' in the rain was physically
taxing and mentally exhausting. After having a couple of days to
fully absorb (no pun intended) what all happened during the weekend,
I am thrilled with what I learned! When you get the time, please
forward my evaluation since that's gonna help me too. If any of the
tracks you run a future event at have sprinkler systems, I'd
recommend flooding the track during part of a 2 day event as a
teaching tool. Folks who only run in the dry are indeed missing alot.
I don't know how
many participants of last weekend's event fully appreciated your
point about the rain providing a better learning experience. I'm
sure some folks just wanted to enjoy their cars on a nice dry track.
Like many people, I considered canceling my weekend. I'm glad I
As a newbie,
my goal was to learn, learn, learn - car control, driving
technique, driving line, etc. I am convinced the rain is a
perfect way to learn these things. The instructors and advanced
drivers talk about positioning the car within a few inches of
their intended line. As a novice, plus or minus a half a car
width or car length seems reasonable. On a wet MSR track, plus
or minus half a car width is the difference between asphalt and
ice. You have to learn and see the dry line in order to avoid
it, and you have to learn the wet line. Vehicle dynamics are
immediately obvious. I experienced understeer, oversteer, tank
slapper, and almost everything else mentioned in class, all in
one weekend and at much slower speeds.
So please put
me on the rain list. I'll watch for and seek out future events
that call for rainy weather. If rain threatens an event and
people are not signing up or trying to bail, give me a call.
I'll fill the slot and be happy to pay.
You have a great organization and I plan to sign up for many
events to come - even the dry ones :)
just wasted to THANK YOU a lot for all your help to get me a spot
last weekend. I had an absolutely blast. It was my first weekend
with Driver's Edge and I really enjoyed it.
I could notice that you guys are doing this for passion. Also, my
instructor was awesome!
I'm definitely pleased with the event you guys put together. In
fact, I will register for TWS in March right now! Have a great
Christmas and Happy New Year!
I just wanted to thank you for another fun, educational and memorable weekend. I thoroughly have enjoyed the 2 events I have participated in with The Drivers Edge (June
and October at TWS). I have had two different instructors and both were very helpful, knowledgeable, fun and professional.
I have attended several schools in the last 6 years but I feel none have come close to the kind of return for the dollar I get from The Drivers Edge. I intend on participating in
as many events as my budget will allow.
Please forward my appreciation to my latest instructor.
I cannot remember a weekend that I have had more fun nor enjoyed my Z06 more! The event was extremely well orchestrated, as always, and the instructors were superb!
Of course, the fact that I "graduated" had something to do with it, however, even if I had not, my personal satisfaction with my car and my performance, enhanced by the
excellent instructor I had (Cindy) was second to none,
Bravo! Well done! I will always encourage my friends to take advantage of Edge!!!!!!!!!
You and your team do a top flight job of organizing and running these events. The level of professionalism exhibited is commendable.
In class you mentioned some books that would make good reading for novice drivers. Could you please forward some titles?
Also, I would be interested in how I was rated in the instructor scoring after the weekend. Whatever you can share in that vein would be appreciated.
Once again, I had a great time, and I will be back for more! See you sometime soon.
I wanted to thank you for running such a fantastic driving school. My son and I had one of the best weekends of our lives this last weekend at TWS!
Everyone with Edge was professional and just plain COOL. I was fortunate to have two different instructors and while they both were good.... My Instructor was the best! He was able to get me to understand was smooth was. The ride I took with him in his Vett was almost as fun as driving my Lightning. Wayne IS smooth. As fast as we were going I never felt we were in danger. I was also signed me off solo. I wish you could know how good that made me feel. I made sure I did not screw up solo since I did not want my Instructor to look bad after putting his confidence in me. My son and I will be back. Next time Jay will bring his 2003 Mach 1. Once again I want to say thanks, you run a great organization!
Pi-Co Precision Fabrication
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and your staff. I was quite impressed with the fluidity of the event. I gained a great deal of confidents especially in turn one. Boy is that scary! My instructor was great; he and I had good chemistry, which made for a wonderful experience. I cannot wait to do it again. I of course will have to wait until I get a break overhaul done.
Again I want to thank you for a wonderful weekend, and hope to see you again real soon.
Just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you. This event was excellent. The gentlemen that runs the grid was incredible. He made things go very smooth.
My instructor, was incredible. I learned a lot from him.
Just got home and unloaded. Last year after attending the Driver's Edge, I e-mailed you stating that it was the best time I'd ever had behind the wheel of a car. Well, that is no longer true.
My second event trumped the prior one and is now tops on my list of driving experiences!
My instructor was an excellent instructor. I felt that I accomplished my goals for this session and learned plenty more in addition to that. I was running much faster with a much higher confidence level by my last run today.
Thanks for running a safe and fun organization. I look forward to my next event!
I wanted to take the time to say thank you for a great learning experience. As we discussed this weekend, I have run various forms of motor sport events in the past. I have never however enjoyed myself or been able to learn as much as I did last weekend. I noticed and appreciated you and your teams effort to not only keep me happy but to keep everyone of your particapnats happy and healthy. Thank you again for going beyond the call, your excellent instruction, and for coming off the track during your limited free time to help me out.
"I'll be back"
