The Drivers Edge Solo-Approved Driver Short Explanation:

Solo-Approved: This means you’ve been approved by one of The Drivers Edge instructor team to drive with out an instructor.

Any solo-approved drivers in Blue, Yellow, and Red run groups are able to enter this event.

Even if you haven’t driven this track.

If you still have to ask if you are a solo-approved driver you probably aren’t.

The Drivers Edge Solo Approved Driver Long Explanation:

What that means is that you have been to at least one of our events and been signed off as a solo driver by one of our advanced instructors. I do understand that many of you have track experience, BUT with out any driving history with The Drivers Edge we cannot determine your true level of driving.

Because all driving events and organizations are not the same, or do not require the same qualifications to become a solo approved driver, we have to limit registration discount to The Drivers Edge solo approved only. By not having gone through our program we have no way to determine if you would qualify solo under our guidelines.

For Example:

Every driver that goes thru a Drivers Edge event is evaluated with an in-car instructor and a report card is on file.  We’ve seen far too many drivers with track experience from other organizations come thru our school who have no foundation or proper skills to be driving solo.

A novice driver takes a minimum of three to four 2-day events before even being considered for solo status. Further explanation is that novice driver would have had at least 24 track sessions with in-car instructor in addition to the classroom sessions before becoming solo approved. Over 75% of the drivers that come thru our courses take more than five events to become solo approved. Some students never get solo approved.  It is not a factor of how many times you’ve driven, it’s a factor of your driving skill level with us.

Most of you, whom have extensive track or race experience with other organizations we could evaluate you at one event in short order to see if you qualified to run solo.

Sincerely,

Rick Schwalenberg
